On the 10th February, Disney released a sneak peek trailer for the upcoming Aladdin Remake which reveals what Will Smith's Genie will look like in the movie.

In the trailer it's revealed that Will Smith will be blue, just like the original Robin Williams genie, but he is also completely made up of Computer-Generated Images (CGI).

Unfortunately, a lot of people believe that the CGI looks terrible, and have taken to the internet to express their concerns, and nightmares.

Some Twitter users have claimed it is nightmare fuel, with one user saying that it is “what appears in my room when I have sleep paralysis”.

A journalist for the New York Times, Kyle Buchanan, tweeted that Will Smiths genie “makes me feel the same way I feel when a celebrity dies: Nauseous, sad, and like I can’t wait to tell everybody about it.”

Other users simply mocked how Will Smiths character looks. Journalist Mike Ryan simply tweeted these two comparison images:

While opinions on most of the Disney Live Action remakes are often rather divisive, I create a poll on Twitter to determine whether or not the newest trailer for Aladdin has changed the public's opinion on the matter.

When asked whether the most recent trailers make the new Aladdin look any good, 70% of users said it does, whereas 20% said it doesn’t, and 10% are not sure.

This means that the general public’s opinion seems to be the complete opposite to the mass hysteria about the movie.

Upon discovering this I put out another poll asking whether people think the Disney live action remakes are a good idea or a sign of Disney running out of ideas.

50% of users said they have run out of ideas and 50% said they are not sure, no users voted that they are a good idea.

To me, this shows that while most of the general audience thinks the remakes are going to be good, almost no one believes they are being made because Disney wants to add anything to them artistically, but because they may have simply run out of ideas.

Some people even believe that Disney are only making these remakes as an easy way to make money, instead of putting effort into making new movies.

However, whether the upcoming Aladdin, and other live action remakes, are good movies or just money-making products, we won’t know till the movie’s release and we get to see them for ourselves.
